UPDATE: Brooklyn Man Suspected of Raping 10-Year-Old Caught in Minnesota

UPDATE, Jan. 14: Edwin Caizaguano, suspected of raping a 10-year-old girl in Bushwick, was apprehended Monday in Saint Paul, Minnesota, by the NYPD’s Fugitive Apprehension Team, according to police. He is currently awaiting extradition.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — A 24-year-old man from Bushwick raped a 10-year-old girl, also from the neighborhood, on the evening of Oct. 19 around 6 p.m., according to the NYPD.

“The suspect raped the 10-year-old female victim inside of a residence on Moffat Street,” police said in a statement sent to Patch.

“The victim was brought to an area hospital,” police said, “where she required surgery to recover from injuries that she sustained during the incident.”

The girl is now reported to be in stable condition — and the man who allegedly raped her has been identified as 24-year-old Edwin Caizaguano. He also goes by the name Patricio, according to the NYPD.

DNAinfo reported that Caizaguano is dating the young girl’s mother, and that he raped her inside her own home on Moffat.

Police described the suspect as approximately 5-feet-3-inches tall and 110 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
