Rats Welcome At Mayor's Bed-Stuy Home: Report
Mayor Adams makes a big show of his war on rats, but doesn't appear to practice what he preaches at home, the New York Daily News reports.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Mayor Eric Adams' war on rats appears to have followed him to his Bed-Stuy home, and the city is demanding he pay up for aiding and abetting the enemy, a new report shows.
Adams has been cited multiple times for creating a welcoming environment for his sworn enemy at his Bed-Stuy row house and has yet to pay a $600 rodent infestation summons issued in May, according to a New York Daily News story.

An intrepid reporter from the storied newspaper observed several signs of city-initiated rat poison baiting stations, as well as loose garbage bags piled in front of his home.
The Daily News found a second ticket at his home from 2020 for "LOOSE RUBBISH," charging him $225.64 for his unsanitary practices.

Experts cite the city's practice of leaving trash in plastic bags on the street as a free buffet for the intelligent little critters, and that any real plan to fight rats has to start with major overhauls to systemic sanitation practices.
Neighbors told the Daily News that Adams should pay more attention to his own property's sanitation practices, too, with one telling a reporter that the rats can be heard all night long.
“Rats are a big problem on this block,” Meredith Rogers, 31, told the News. “Every given night you’re dodging rats.”
While some might question whether city hall might be in the pocket of "Big Rat," the revelation of hizzoner's rat palace comes just days after his office put out a call for a murderous "rat czar," asking for a long list of qualifications including project management and "wholesale slaughter."
The only thing missing from the job posting? Any knowledge of rats.
