BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Are you always wondering what the historic brownstones of Bed-Stuy look like on the inside?

Then you better check out the Brownstoners House Tour, which offers viewers access to six remarkable homes in Bed-Stuy.

Founded in 1978, the nonprofit Brownstoners of Bedford Stuyvesant is offering its 44th tour as a way to engender pride in home ownership in the community by highlighting homes that, despite modern redesigns, have retained their original and authentic charm.

Tickets are $20 for the virtual tour. The proceeds from the fundraiser go to the Bernard McDonald/George Glee Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, named for two founding members of the Brownstoners organization. So far, the fund has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to Boys and Girls High School college bound graduates, organizers told Patch last year.

To get a sense of what you might see, the Brownstoners have put together a trailer of their tour from last year.

In addition to the tours, the Brownstoners focus on a range of community issues and initiatives, like "our tax lien outreach project and voter registration drives," organizers said in an email.

"We have entered the 21st century with the voices of those community leaders who kept Bedford-Stuyvesant alive still ringing in our ears. We intend to keep the fire under their legacy," they said.
