BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — NYPD detectives have released surveillance footage of a reckless burglar who they say crashed through the ceiling of Mr. Liquor, a liquor store on Fulton Street near Albany Avenue, then escaped back through the ceiling with more than $10,000 in cash.

Last Thursday, Feb. 4, around 7 a.m., according to a press release from the NYPD:

“The individual entered 1555 Fulton Street (The Mr. Liquor Inc.) through the ceiling. The individual damaged numerous bottles of alcohol and removed approximately $10,000 from cash registers before exiting the location through the ceiling opening.”

The NYPD’s press office could not clarify how the burglar entered through the ceiling of the liquor store, which apparently has two stories of apartments stacked on top of it.

Surveillance footage from inside the store showed the thief rolling around amid a bunch of broken bottles, but didn’t show the moment he fell from the ceiling.

An employee at Mr. Liquor who answered the phone Tuesday afternoon did not understand Patch’s line of questioning, re: the ceiling hole. He advised that we try back tomorrow, when a manager would be available to take our call.

The prime suspect in Bed-Stuy’s bizarre ceiling burglary is described by police as a black male last seen wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and gray sneakers.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or the crime is asked to call the NYPD at 1-800-577-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted online or by texting 274637, then entering TIP577.
