Bedford Central School Board & Budget Election Results Are In

The voters decided on the $156M Bedford schools budgets and which candidates will serve on the board of education.

BEDFORD, NY — The ballots are in and voters have decided on the 2024 budget and school board.

Two seats were up for election on the Bedford Central School District Board of Education.

The proposed spending plan of $155,825,000 was passed by voters, with 798 voting yes and 293 voting no. The new budget is 2.15 percent higher than the current budget.

The tax levy is expected to rise 2.95 percent.

District officials said that the budget will support: instruction, general support, transportation, and undistributed.

Superintendent Rob Glass noted that the budget "concludes a responsibly managed phase-out of federal COVID funding, maintains outstanding average class sizes, sustains mission, success plan and programs, including our focus on literacy and the Science of Reading, maintains student choice and opportunity, commits to sustained realignment and right-sizing."

Two, three-year board seats were up for election. Steven Matlin (incumbent) and Lisa Mitchell were elected to those seats.
