Bedford and Katonah School Districts Consider Budgets

Members of the Bedford and Katonah-Lewisboro districts can weigh in on school budgets before voting on May 16.

BEDFORD, NY—The Bedford Central School District and Katonah-Lewisboro School District are considering their respective 2017-2018 budgets.

Statewide school district budget elections take place May 16.

Bedford's proposed budget, which totals $128,925,832 and would raise the tax levy by 1.95 percent, was presented to the Board of Education on Feb. 28 by Superintendent Christopher Manno. Budget workshops will be held at 7 p.m. on March 15, 22, and 29, followed by a public hearing on May 3, in the Fox Lane Middle School Little Theater at 632 South Bedford Road in Bedford.

Katonah-Lewisboro's proposed $106,938,981 budget, presented by Superintendent Andrew Selesnick on Feb. 17, would result in a 1.91 percent tax levy increase. Upcoming budget discussions have been scheduled for March 9, 23, and April 6. A public hearing on the budget will be held on May 4. All budget meetings take place at 7 p.m. in the John Jay High School Library at 60 North Salem Road in Cross River.

Both of the districts' proposed tax levy increases comply with the mandated New York State tax cap set at 2.14 percent.
