Bedford Police Blotter: Identity Theft and a Missing 'Vote Yes' Sign

Here's a roundup of police activity as reported by Bedford's finest for June 9 - June 15.

ARRESTS

On June 10 around 9:00 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute between 23 year-old Scott Myrie and his girlfriend. During an argument,  Myrie threw rocks at his girlfriend's car and spat on her. Over $1,000 in damage was reportedly done on her 2006 Nissan, which was parked on South Church Street. Myrie was released on $1,000 bail and was due in town court on June 17.

On June 12 police stopped 31-year-old Marc Ehrenberg for driving with an unsafe tire that had metal objects protruding from it. Upon further investigation and a DMV check,  Ehrenberg was found to have a suspended license, a suspended registration, and no inspection sticker. He was released on $250 bail and scheduled to return to court on June 17.

On June 15 police stopped 22-year-old John Michael Francisco near the intersection of Bedford Road and Norm Avenue because only one headlight was working on his car. The officer observed marijuana seeds and buds in the vehicle, and upon further investigation were able to recover two small bags of marijuana.  He was released on $25 bail and scheduled to return to court on July 1.

June 9

At 10:51 a.m. police were called about a dispute at Mt. Kisco Honda at Bedford Road, in Bedford Hills. An employee who was fired had returned to pick up his last paycheck and it appeared that he had taken a 3-ring binder from the sales desk that did not belong to him. At 11:45 a.m. the dealership called back and said there was no need for follow-up.

At 1:26 p.m. police received a call from Middle Patent Road in Bedford for a reported identity theft. The caller said the theft allegedly occurred in Rye at a Verizon store where  her credit cards were charged for items she did not purchase.

At 2:22 p.m. police were called about a reported rifle in the front seat of a truck parked at Radio Shack at 720 Bedford Road in Bedford Hills. Police located the truck and there was a gun, which was unloaded, which is permissible under the law. The driver said he was taking the gun to Connecticut.

At 9:01 p.m. police were called for a report of a sign missing from BA Beauty Nail Spa. The sign was later found in another business. That business owner had found the sign, blown away from strong winds, and secured it at their store.

June 10

At 5:34 p.m. police responded to a call from Bedford Road in Bedford Hills, for a reported sick raccoon. The animal was located in a resident's front yard,  and the animal was destroyed with one round of ammunition. There was no known contact with domestic animals or humans.

At 10:52 p.m. police received a call from Bedford Road in Bedford Hills from a person who had previously complained to her neighbor about the noise from them setting off fireworks, and subsequently received harassing phone calls from the neighbor. Police  advised the neighbor to cease the calls.

June 11

 

At 1:43 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of  South Bedford and West Patent Road. There were  no reported injuries in this one-car accident when a car drove off the shoulder of a road and struck a stone wall.

At 3:30 p.m. police were called to Edgemont Road for a possible violation of the town's peddling ordinance. Police located two males that were soliciting for Prize Point, an agency soliciting money for wounded veterans. The representatives from the for-profit agency were advised they need a permit to solicit. 

At 4:33 p.m. police responded to Guard Hill Road in Bedford for assistance with a 72-year-old female having difficulty breathing. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Katonah Bedford-Hills Volunteer Amublance Corps.

June 12

At 12:02 p.m. police responded to a caller from Pinebrook Road in Bedford. Their  mailbox been removed from its post.

At 8:24 p.m. police responded to a caller from Long Ridge Road in Bedford, where a stray dog was found. The dog was returned to its owner prior to police arrival.

June 13

At 11:32 a.m. police were called to the Chase Bank in Bedford Hills at 777 Bedford Road. The caller reported a suspicious person near the ATM. The man was located and turned out to be the ATM repairman.

At 1:07 p.m. an individual reported a found wallet  on Croton Lake Road Wallet. The owner  was contacted and advised to pick it up.

At 6:21 p.m. police were called to Buxton Road in Bedford Hills for a damaged window and possible criminal mischief. After further investigation, the damage appeared to be weather related.

June 14

At 9:17 a.m. police responded to a call from Katonah Elementary School at 106 Huntville Road. An individual reported a possible DWI operator in the area. The vehicle was gone upon police arrival.

At 1:56 p.m. police were called to the Bedford Shell Station at South Bedford Road on the report of a suspicious person who appeared to have a gun. The man was located and identified to be an off-duty New York Police Department officer.

At 4:34 p.m. police were called again to the Bedford Shell Station for a group of youths that were loitering and refusing to leave the premises. They were gone before the police arrived.

At 10:29 p.m. police responded to a call from Lakeside Drive in Bedford Hills for a "lift assist." Police helped an elderly person get back up after falling down.

June 15

At 1:52 p.m. police went to Old Post Road in Bedford for a report of loud music. The resident was located and advised to lower the volume.

At 5:50 police were called for a report of a possible stolen vehicle at Babbit Road in Bedford Hills. The car was then reported to have been moved by the owner's friend to a spot near the Bedford Hills Train Station.

Around 6 p.m. police were for a report of missing signs from Huntville Road in Katonah. The individual reported that a "Vote Yes" sign was missing from her lawn.

At 6:46 p.m. police were called to Bedford Road in Bedford Hills on a report of someone shooting birds in their backyard. They found a 38-year-old male shooting chipmunks with their BB gun. Police advised the man that he could be endangering others.
