Bedford Police Blotter: School's Out, Damaged Mailboxes are Up

Here's a roundup of police activity for June 28 - July 3.

FROM THE NEW YORK STATE POLICE

Marijuana arrest on Cherry Street: On June 29, state police arrested Samuel B. Katz of Katonah for driving while impaired by drugs, and for criminal possession of marijuana. After he was stopped for driving outside of his lane on Cherry Street, Katz was found to be in possession of 53.2 grams of marijuana. He was transported to the state police headquarters in Somers,  processed and issued an appearance ticket; he is scheduled to appear in Bedford town court on July 8 at 7 p.m.

Speed enforcement was conducted on July 3 between  9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Route 100 in the Town of Somers and Route 35 in the Town of Lewisboro. The State Police issued a total of 64 tickets, the majority for speeding.

June 25

Damaged mailbox reported at 6:48 a.m. on Mustato Road in Katonah. Five other mailboxes in the area were later reported damaged at an approximate value of $250.

Aggressive campaigner on Katonah Avenue reported at 10:07 a.m. Someone was handing out fliers for a human right campaign. Police advised them to not disturb pedestrians.

Damaged mailbox reported at 1:08 a.m. at Goldens Bridge Road in Katonah.

Forged prescription reported at 2:24 p.m. from the Drug Mart at 737 Bedford Road in Bedford Hills. The prescription was written by an out-of-state for a suspect narcotic and a highly addictive medicine.

Two 9-year olds fighting reported at 7:26 p.m. at Rome Avenue in Bedford Hills. The police broke up the argument between the two youths. 

Identity theft reported at 8:54 p.m. from Bedford Road in Bedford Hills. The resident said that someone tried to open a credit card in her name, in the town of Scarsdale.

June 26

Door ajar at Wallauer Paint reported at 9:22 a.m. from Bedford Road in Bedford Hills. Nothing was found missing.

Burglar alarm set off at 5:28 p.m. at Katonah Avenue in Katonah. The building was found secure.

Aided case at the Bedford Golf Pro Shop. At 8:40 p.m. a female at the Cantitoe Street shop complained of a seizure. Police responded and she was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital via ambulance.

June 27

Lift assist at 5:51 a.m. on Aspetong Road in Bedford. Police lift assist and aided case.

Damaged mailbox reported at 2:45 p.m. on Valley Road in Katonah.

Aggressive solicitation reported at 5:05 p.m. on Quarry Lane in Bedford. The salesperson was hawking children's activity books while in possession of a solicitor's permit. She was advised to be less aggressive.

June 28

Repossession of vehicle at 1:01 a.m. on Harris Road in Bedford Hills.

Car accident at 12:44 p.m. at the intersection of route 35 and 22. The two-car accident resulted in injuries to both drivers, who were from South Salem. A 49-year-old driver, from South Salem, complained of leg pain; the other, a 71-year-old also from South Salem,  complained of pain in chest area. Both were taken to Northern Westchester hospital.

Possible gas leak reported at 10:38 a.m. from Appleby Drive in Bedford. The fire department responded and determined that the finish on the wood floors were emitting excessive fumes.

Flag stolen from Montfort Academy at 99 Valley Road. The school reported the larceny when they noticed the American flag was missing; it was valued at $40.

June 29

Security camera missing at 7:03 p.m. from Stone Paddock Place in Bedford. The camera was removed sometime during the previous week. The investigation is ongoing.

Neighbor dispute at 12:06 p.m. in the condominium complex at 51 Haines Road in Bedford Hills. A resident complained when another resident was  exercising in the common area .

Speeding reported at 4:30 p.m. near McClain Street in Bedford Hills. A resident complained of drivers exceeding the 30 mile-per-hour speed limit.

Driving arrest At 5:20 p.m. 36-year-old Danielle Dincecco of Bedford was stopped on Guard Hill Road for driving a car with an expired registration sticker. After the officer checked police records, Dincecco was found to have a suspended license. She was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree and operation a vehicle with three or more suspensions. She was released on $100 bail and is due back in town court on July 8.
