Community Day At Golden's Bridge Firehouse Back With An Extra-Special Bash For 2025

The annual tradition has plenty of seasonal fun, but also has the important goal of raising fire safety awareness.

There's a reason the Community Day At Golden's Bridge Firehouse is considered the "hottest event" of the season.

GOLDEN'S BRIDGE, NY — It's time once again for the hottest event of the fall, and this year there might just be a few new surprises.

"It's the place to be, the hottest happening of the fall season, on October 18, gathering with your family, friends, neighbors, and the firefighters who serve our fire district and provide mutual aid to surrounding communities. We'll be handing out maps of the Golden's Bridge firehouse grounds so guests won't miss any of the amazing things we have planned," said Fire Commissioner Joe Simoncini, a 30-year firefighter and chair of the Community Day Event Committee.

Every family will receive a free raffle ticket for the chance to win gift cards, a private family fire truck ride, a siren & lights curbside birthday experience, and more! Every child will receive a gift bag that contains markers, among other fun items, to decorate the pumpkin they pick from the firehouse spooktacular Halloween pumpkin patch.

Organizers say that visitors can expect a day blazing with action and adventure for children and adults of all ages, with a combination of several new activities and popular demonstrations with a few new twists and surprises.

Kids will be clamoring to swoop down the giant inflatable fire truck slide and jump around the inflatable bounce house. The Golden's Bridge Fire Department will introduce their new mascot, “Golden” the fire dog, who will help children take aim at faux flames with a real working fire hose from a tanker truck. Fire truck rides, crafts, and a fire truck tour where children can try on fire gear and get behind the wheel, are among other activities that will keep kids entertained. Golden’s Bridge Scout Troop 154 will be staffing their obstacle course and a cornhole game.

Dramatic and high-adrenaline demonstrations are scheduled throughout the day, including a live-burn in which firefighters will battle roaring flames in a controlled structure fire. Adults can suit up like a firefighter and see how long it takes to get from one point to another with the weight of fire gear, and they’ll be able to douse real flames with a fire extinguisher in a hands-on participatory demonstration. What community event is without a dunk tank! It may be your neighbor that your impeccable aim plopped into the water.

The GBFD's partners in emergency services, including the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Westchester County Police, and New York State Police will also provide exciting demonstrations and vehicle tours, as well as an exhilarating performance by a State Police K9 unit. Visitors will also experience what it would be like to escape from a smoke-filled house when they navigate the smoke house trailer courtesy of the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association.

This non-stop action is sure to work up everyone's appetite, so Golden's Bridge firefighters will be barbecuing burgers and hot dogs, and serving cider, donuts, muffins, coffee, juice, cookies, chips, snacks, fruit, and more! There will be bowls of Halloween candy and kids in costume will be given a prize. Visitors will want to stop by the old-fashioned popcorn cart and enjoy a bag of the buttery puffs.

"Hope to see everyone at the firehouse on Community Day," said Golden’s Bridge Fire Chief Albert Melillo, who is hopeful that "the event raises fire safety awareness through some of the interactive demonstrations that we have planned. Fire safety awareness and education can save lives."
