1. Polls are open

2. Youth volunteers needed

Gilda's Club Westchester, a cancer support organization, is looking for volunteers for its “Youth Committee,” a formal youth volunteer group. Help plan special evening events and activities for teens, such as an A Capella event in the spring; and the teen essay contest, which begins in January. For more information,

A second opportunity exists at your local library. The library system seeks volunteers to help children or teens tackle homework assignments, build academic skills and use online resources. Scheduling and library locations are flexible. Previous experience is not necessary. Volunteers receive training and ongoing support.

3. New muffin and cupcake shop in Katonah?

On the agenda for discussion at Tuesday's planning board meeting is a muffin and cupcake shop located at 41 Katonah Avenue, the former location of a drycleaning business. Check back with Patch for a report on whether we'll have a new spot to indulge our sweet tooth.

4. New farm stand on Guard Hill Road

Joining its neighbor, Daisy Hill Farm, in providing farm fresh products for locals, the new Seedswell Vegetable Farm Stand offers vegetables, herbs, cut flowers, eggs, honey, dried herbs and more. The stand specializes in cover cropping and crop rotation, and grows its products without synthetic herbicides or pesticides. They're open today from 10am - 1pm at 284 Guard Hill Road.

5. Auditions for Willy Wonka
