Dream Playground In Lewisboro Getting Closer To Becoming Reality
Fundraising efforts to build a new public playground in Lewisboro Town Park are nearing the goal of unlocking state funding for the project.
LEWISBORO, NY — A community working to build a playground that will inspire the imaginations of children and the envy of grownups is close to reaching a milestone in its efforts.
According to the latest tally by way of the Lewisboro Parks and Recreation Department, fundraising has reached the $60,000 mark. An impressive amount, but organizers say the dream playground envisioned for Lewisboro Town Park will cost more than $625,000 to build.
There may, however, be a short cut on the horizon for funding the playground budget. New York State Assemblymember Chris Burdick and State Senator Pete Harckham have told parents advocating for the new playground that significant funds from the state might be available, but only if the group is able to meet its fundraising goal of $100,ooo by Oct. 16.

PLEASE HELP - they are getting closer to that 100K mark!

Luckily, the group has an upcoming Octoberfest planned to help cross the $100K finish line. The playground supporters are looking for sponsors for the event and have also introduced a "That's My Brick" fundraiser. For those who are thinking bigger than just bricks, an "adopt a playground component" option is on the table as well. Families or businesses can adopt a piece of equipment for the playground. Several components have been sponsored already, and sponsors will be represented in the new park.
The group is asking anyone excited about the prospect of a new playground to be enjoyed by generations to come to reach out via messenger to the Lewisboro Playground Facebook page or to email lewisboroplayground@gmail.com to find out how they can help.
