Enhancing John Jay XC Course—A Powerful Lesson in Community Service

Through hard work and dedication, Troop 154's Denis Z. leads a project that improves safety, cleanliness, and community pride at John Jay

Denis Z., a dedicated member of Boy Scout Troop 154, took on an impactful Eagle Scout project to enhance the safety and cleanliness of the John Jay High School cross-country (XC) course. Over three workdays, Denis and his team worked tirelessly to clean up the course, removed extensive overgrowth, waste products, fallen and dangerous trees and removal of over 3000 lbs of trash that had accumulated over time.

His efforts not only improved the appearance of the trail but also made it safer for runners and community members who use it regularly. By clearing debris and addressing hazards, Denis ensured a more enjoyable and secure experience for everyone. His project exemplifies how Scouts from Troop 154 give back to their communities, leaving lasting positive impacts through hard work and leadership, especially benefiting his own XC team and school.
