Republican Sen. Greg Ball (NY-40th) is hosting a presentation on hydrofracking tonight at the Lewisboro Library in order to educate the public about the controversial drilling process used to extract natural gas from shale.
In addition, Sen. Ball will host a press conference via telephone with Republican Assemblyman Robert Castelli (NY-89) at 11 a.m. Wednesday to call for a one-year moratorium on fracking, as the process is known.
“The DEC has taken steps towards allowing fracking to come into our backyard, so it’s now our responsibility to protect New Yorkers from the potentially devastating effects of hydraulic fracturing,” Sen. Ball said. “Without the funding in place to protect property, health and financial well-being, oil and gas companies will continue to rake in profits while raking communities over the proverbial coals.”
