Yes, our 2010 federal tax returns are due April 18, but did you know that more than $1.1 billion worth of refunds from 2007 are still unclaimed? The IRS said nearly 1.1 million people who did not file a federal tax return for 2007 can still collect the money, but the deadline is also April 18. Here's the information.

3. Mia is a nice name for a cobra

Close to 60,000 people thought "Mia" thought was a name fit for the Bronx Zoo’s hiding Egyptian cobra. The Bronx Zoo and New York Daily News asked the public to submit a name for the deadly snake—who was believed to have escaped two weeks ago, made headlines and was found last Thursday in a corner of the zoo’s reptile house. More than 34,000 gave their favorite names, and 59,535 voted on the top five. "Mia" won 27 percent of the vote. Just in case you hadn't heard. 

4. A Home Tune Up Can Save Money

The Katonah Village Library hosts home energy expert Dick Kornbluth for a presentation on how to save on energy costs while making your home more comfortable in both winter and summer. Organizers say that New York state is leading the way nationally, showing its residents how to save on average 30 percent on their energy bills.  The library is hosting the talk as a participant in the The talk will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.

5.  Bring your batteries, chemicals, old phones and more

If you're spring cleaning, it's household material recovery day all day today (until 4 p.m.) so pack up your household chemicals, batteries, Cell phones, Expired or unused medication, Car tires, Flourescent light bulbs, Fire extinguishers, BBQ propane tanks (up to 20 lbs), Mercury containing items and Electronic goods and bring them to FDR State Park in Yorktown.
