Letters to the Editor in Support of Peter Michaelis for District 2
Howland Robinson of Bedford Hills joins Peter Michaelis in asking voters to select the Bedford resident for District 2 in today's Republican primary.

Dear Editor:
Tuesday, September 13, is Republican primary day. Peter Michaelis is asking registered Republicans to help him defeat Peter Harckham next November.
Peter Michaelis has been active in local politics and community organizations for years. He ran against Harckham in 2007 as a last minute candidate and nearly won. Rob Astorino invited him to join the Astorino transition team and Jim Maisano, minority leader of the Republican county legislators, has endorsed him. Because of his experience and commitment to tax and spending reduction, he’s the Republican candidate with the best chance to defeat Harckham.

Harckham is hoping he won’t have to run against Michaelis next November. Republicans who don’t vote on Tuesday will help Harckham and work against Rob Astorino’s fiscal responsibility program. Astorino needs Republican county legislators to support him.
Registered Republicans - please vote for Michaelis on Tuesday. Leaders can’t lead, if they don’t get elected in the first place. If we want fiscally responsible government and lower property taxes, we voters must do our part to elect the leaders like Astorino and Michaelis to accomplish that.

To the Editor:
I wish to thank my neighbors in Bedford, Lewisboro, Pound Ridge, Mt. Kisco, Somers and North Salem for their understanding and indulgence regarding my political signs and robo calls that were recently utilized as part of my campaign. Although annoying, they call attention to a vital Republican Primary and are much needed to remind Republicans to VOTE Tuesday, Tuesday Sept. 13. I PROMISE that by Wed. Sept 14, I will have most if not all of the signs down.
I have been campaigning for 5 months, knocking on hundreds of doors so far, sending several mailers to over 5000 households, to get my message of smaller, smarter and less expensive County Government for taxpayers. But none of this will matter if Republicans don’t get out and VOTE.
I can’t remember the last time there was a Republican Primary in Bedford. Given the close proximity to Labor day, Hurricane Irene, Schools opening , I know most families are not focused on a primary election and yet this is an incredibly important election for our future.
We have been the HIGHEST TAXED COUNTY in America for the last 4 years. This must change if we want to be able to afford to live here. I am committed to being your voice for change in County Government. We do not need to spend $1.8 Billion dollars a year. It is my intention to bring real fiscal conservatism to the Board of legislators and to represent the disenfranchised taxpayers of our District.
It is critical that we take back the seat now occupied by Majority leader Pete Harckham. I believe I am the best qualified to do so in the general election in November. I have good name recognition throughout District 2, having run against Harckham in 2007. I warned then about the negative consequences of creating a democratic “super majority” and my worst fears came true. Astorino has now issued more vetos than all previous County Executives combined and most have been over ridden by the Democrats content on restoring funds and personnel to a county budget that is a train wreck in progress and threatens our way of life. Democratic legislators don’t seem to have heard the voters.
I have broad support throughout District 2. Well over a third of the voters in District 2 are Democrats and a quarter of them are Independent. Whoever takes on Harckham must be able to build a bi-partisan coalition of support. For over 15 years, I have worked alongside the citizens of Northern Westchester in both local government and civic organizations. Through my extensive volunteer service I have built consensus among people from both sides of the aisle in order to achieve results. I know I can do the same if elected to the County Board of legislators.
If you give me a chance, I will be your voice in County Government. Please vote for me Tuesday, Sept 13, Box 2B.
Sincerely
Peter Michaelis
Candidate, Westchester County Legislature District 2
