Man Charged With Grand Larceny After Alleged Appliance Theft From Kohl's

The following arrest information was supplied by the Bedford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 53-year-old Bronx resident, Wilbur Moore, was arrested on August 4 and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.

The arrest follows a five-month investigation that began in March when Kohl's Department Store reported that an from a storage area in the back of the Bedford Hills store.

Police detectives had a description from the employee: a black or Hispanic man of medium build drove off in an SUV with CT plates, possibly a Chevrolet. After a similar incident occurred in Clarkstown, in Rockland County, Bedford police detectives were able to use the research from that investigation to identify Moore as a person of interest.

Police said Moore admitted to the theft at the time of his arrest. He was released on $1,000 bail pending an appearance in Bedford Town Court.

Armonk man charged in driving arrest

Hugo Velazquez-Mendez, a 27-year-old resident of Armonk was arrested on August 4 in Bedford Hills, and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a car and driving a car while using a mobile phone.

Bedford police observed Velzquez-Mendez driving northbound on Bedford Road around 1:41 p.m. on Aug. 4, talking on a cell phone. The conducted a traffic stop and a computer check showed that his driving privileges had been previously suspended. He was released on $60 bail pending a return to town court.

 

911 call for seizures leads to marijuana arrest

William Michael Buco, a 30-year-old Bedford Hills man, was arrested on Aug. 7 after his friend called 911 to report that Buco was having seizures.

Police responded to his apartment in Bedford Hills around 12:45 p.m. on the Aug. 7. Officers said that when they came into the residence, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Buco said that he had smoked marijuana, according to police, who recovered a small amount of the substance from the apartment. Buco was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

 

Traffic signs missing from Fox Lane High School

Fox lane staff reported on Aug. 8 that almost $500 in traffic signs were missing from the school's campus. The missing signs include a speed bump sign and a 5 mph sign.
