Monthslong Closure Of 116/121 For Culvert Replacement Is Now Underway

NORTH SALEM, NY — A major infrastructure project is finally getting underway in Westchester County and that means detours are in the immediate future.

The New York State Department of Transportation announced today that State Route 116 will be closed to traffic between Baxter Road/Keeler Lane and Titicus Road/Peach Lake Road in North Salem, from today until Monday, September 16.

The closure is necessary to replace the culvert under Route 116/121, weather permitting.

Drivers are advised to follow the posted detours as an alternate. According to North Salem Town Supervisor Warren Lucas, the detours will route affected 121 and 116 traffic north on Route 121 (Peach Lake Road), west over Bloomer Road and south on June Road.

The work was originally expected to start June 24, but was postponed. The DOT started clearing and grubbing last week, according to Lucas.
