Police Blotter: Telephone Fraud and a Broken Window at Lucia's

Here's a roundup of police activity from May 15 - May 18.

MAY 15

At 7:16 p.m. police received a call from Lucia's Restaurant at 454 Old Post Road. An employee called to report an issue with youths on the property. The children of some patrons had gone outside, thrown a rock and broken a window on the property. Their parents were asked to pay for the damage.

MAY 16

An individual called to report an assault on Crusher Road in Bedford. Police investigated and found a boyfriend/girlfriend dispute. After the boyfriend allegedly assaulted his female companion, she reported that her car was missing from her driveway. The next day, a resident of 4 Hollyhock reported a vehicle on their property that matched the missing car's description. The investigation is ongoing.

At 6:35 p.m., police responded to a call for assistance with a disoriented elderly male at the Shop Rite supermarket at 747 Bedford Road in Bedford Hills. Upon arrival at the store, police discovered the need was unfounded.

At 5:04 p.m. police responded to a call from Capricorn Lane in Bedford Hills. The resident reported a radio missing from the pool house on her property. However, the woman did not want to follow up on the missing property.

At 8:49 a.m. police received a call from Almar Lane in Katonah. The caller reported that someone had spray painted graffiti—a number "four"—on the side of his car in Lot 2 at the Katonah train station. The police are following up on a damage report of the criminal mischief.

At 1:05 p.m. police received a call from Sunset Drive in Bedford Hills. The resident reported hearing fireworks or gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located a homeowner and advised them to not use fireworks as possession of them are illegal in New York State.

MAY 18

At 3:12 p.m. police received a call from Tarleton Road regarding telephone fraud. A resident received a phone call from someone who said they were from the Canadian Border Patrol and had arrested her granddaughter; they also said that the resident needed to send $2800 bail money. The resident hung up on the caller, phoned her granddaughter to determine that she was safe, and passed the information to police. The state police will conduct an investigation.
