Halloween 2017: Scaring Up A Haunted Day Trip In The Hudson Valley
Why not plan a haunted day or weekend trip this October?

BEDFORD-KATONAH, NY—There are many ways to celebrate Halloween and not all of them are for kids. If you enjoy viewing old houses, visiting historic sites and fine dining, here are some resources to help you plan a ghostly itinerary. For starters, you could tour a Victorian house where things go bump in the night, stay in a haunted castle or dine in a villa with a dark history.

Wing's Castle, 717 Bangali Road, Millbrook

Overnight stays are possible in this Castle bed and breakfast, which also features an extensive collection of antique memorabilia and collectibles. Ghost tours are available by reservation on October weekends.
Miss Fanny's Victorian Party House, 4 Van Wyck Lane, Wappingers Falls

The current owners say they share their space with spirits and are happy to share their spectral roommates with visitors. Ghost tours are available to individuals and groups up to 20. Reservations can be made for events.
Silvio's Italian Villa, 274 State Route 94, Warwick
The building housing the restaurant was built in the late 1700s and the owners blame the unexplained footsteps and eerie sounds on its dark history. The food is delicious too.
The Original Albany Ghost Tour, 15th Street and Sage Avenue, Troy
Guided tours allow visitors to explore haunted Ten Broeck Mansion and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. A paranormal pub crawl may follow.
Shanley Hotel, 56 Main Street, Napanoch
Visitors have reported paranormal activity, shadows and apparitions. Stay overnight if you dare but be prepared to leave suddenly if things get spooky.
New York State Capitol Haunted Tours, State Capitol, State Street and Washington Avenue, Albany. Ghostly guided tours are available at 12:30 and 5:3-0 p.m. weekdays in October, excluding Columbus Day.
