Scorsese Films ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ Starring DiCaprio in Westchester

The cast also includes Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey and Gene Hackman.

If you happen to make your way to Ardsley for dining or shopping this week, and you happen to think you see an exceptionally attractive man that looks exactly like Leonardo DiCaprio, you might not be fantasizing.

DiCaprio and fellow star Jonah Hill are filming Martin Scorsese’s newest film “The Wolf of Wall Street” in the village this week, according to Ardsley Village Manager George Calvi.

“We anticipate a lot of fans and walkers, so there maybe more people in the downtown area than usual,” said Calvi. “We think this is a very exciting thing. It’s a nice thing for Ardsley. A lot of our stores from Addyman Square down to Starbucks will be featured in the film. It kind of puts Ardsley on the map.”

The film crew began transforming the vacant Westchester Garage, 701 Saw Mill River Rd. into the DiCaprio's character's first office on Tuesday. According to Calvim interior shots will be filmed on Tuesday at the vacant Westchester Garage, 701 Saw Mill River Rd. and will continue through Thursday.

Filming will likely take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. On Friday vintage 1980s road shots of automobiles will be taken on Saw Mill River Road (Route 9A) between Ashford Avenue and Center Street and filming could go as late as midnight.

However, the production assistant for the film said that the crew will only set up this week, and actual filming will take place on Sept. 12, 13 and 14. He said the film is currently being shot in New Jersey, and will also be shot in Long Island, New Jersey, New York City and Brooklyn. Filming will take place through the end of 2013.

“In ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ DiCaprio would play Belfort, a Long Island penny stockbroker who served 20 months in prison for refusing to cooperate in a massive 1990s securities fraud case that involved widespread corruption on Wall Street and in the corporate banking world, including mob infiltration,” says IMDb.com.

The book movie is based on the 2007 memoir by Jordan Belfort, who is now a motivational speaker, of the same title that accounts Belfort’s life as hard partying Wall Street stockbroker. Huffington Post reports that the movie involves graphic sex scenes and heavy drug use.

DiCaprio is expected to appear nude in the film, which includes a sex scene involving four girls and two guys and a coffee break scene with prostitutes, The Daily News said. Actors are also reportedly being asked to get comfortable with sniffing baby laxatives to simulate excessive cocaine use.

Matthew McConaughey, Rob Reiner, Gene Hackman and Jon Favreau also star in the film, but may not be in Ardsley while DiCaprio and Hill are expected to be.

Calvi said that the movie shoot will require periodic road closures for spurts no longer than 15 minutes at a time, so that merchants won’t have problems with getting people in and out of their stores. The village has made arrangements to have public transportation re-routed from Saw Mill River Road (Route 9A) up Ashford Avenue, around American Legion Drive, down Heatherdell Road and back onto Saw Mill River Road or vice versa.

“Depending on how smoothly this goes, who knows what other companies might want to film here down the road,” said Calvi.
