Making a Difference Through Eagle Scout Service Projects

In 2024, Troop 301 continued its proud tradition of developing young leaders and serving our local communities. This year, three exceptional Eagle Scout candidates completed transformative service projects that will benefit our region for years to come.

Nature Education Enhancement at Mianus River Gorge

Eagle Scout Natalie D. demonstrated remarkable vision by converting an existing shed into a wildlife viewing center at the Mianus River Gorge. This innovative project provides visitors with a dedicated space to observe and learn about local wildlife in their natural habitat, enhancing the educational experience for nature enthusiasts and school groups alike.

Improving the Appalachian Trail Experience

Kate K.'s Eagle project addressed a critical need on one of America's most beloved hiking trails. By constructing a sturdy staircase north of the historic Dover Oak in Pawling, NY, Kate has improved trail safety and accessibility while helping to prevent erosion. Working with the NY-NJ Trail Conference, this project exemplifies how Scouts can contribute to maintaining our region's outdoor recreational infrastructure.

Supporting Guide Dog Training

Redd B.'s Eagle project focused on helping Guiding Eyes for the Blind enhance their vital mission. By constructing a specialized dog training and exercise structure, this project will assist in preparing service dogs to support individuals with visual impairments. The structure provides essential training opportunities for dogs in their journey to become reliable guides.
