Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Holiday Gift Packing Helpers

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Holiday Gift Packing
Volunteers are needed to sort, pack, and ship holiday gifts to young children so they can experience the joys of celebrating the holidays. This is the perfect project for small groups; volunteers between 5 and 17 must sign up as a family, group, or team alongside an adult.
Date: 11/10-12/12; weekdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Holidays on the Hill Decorating
Help make Lasdon Park's public gardens festive for the holidays! Volunteers are needed to decorate Santa's Cottage, the Conservatory, and the North Pole village with lights, ornaments, wreaths, garland, and more. This is the perfect project for teens and groups. Volunteers must be 16+ (or 14+ as part of an adult's team).
Date: 11/15-11/22; select dates from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Food Pantry Volunteers and Donation Drive
As food pantries and non-profits prepare for a sharp increase in families seeking assistance due to SNAP funding cuts, volunteers will be needed to help sort food donations, prepare packages, distribute food and hot meals to neighbors, help transport goods or unload deliveries, and donate essential items at food pantries and meal programs throughout Rockland County.
Date: Flexible schedule; multiple opportunities

Garden Clean Up and Planting
Join the Garden Club of New Rochelle for a day of garden clean-up and planting at the Huguenot Children's Library. Volunteers will be reshaping the gardens and planting new plants. Please wear gloves, bring your favorite gardening tools, and wear gardening clothes and closed-toe shoes. The Garden Club of New Rochelle will provide plants and some tools.
