Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Spooktacular Oktoberfest Helpers
Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.
This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
STEAM Camp Volunteers
JCC Mid-Westchester is seeking adult or teen volunteers to assist with its STEAM and Makerspace Program. Volunteers will help with one or more of the STEAM Camp Days by assisting participants and class instructors with STEAM-related activities. This is a great project for volunteers who are 16+ (or 13+ as part of an adult's team)!
Date: 10/20 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.; multiple opportunities

FAFSA Boot Camp Volunteers
Completing FAFSA financial aid applications is a crucial step in the college admissions journey—and it's one that many first-generation students struggle with. Volunteers can help by assisting these students and their families as they complete and submit their financial aid forms. All volunteers will be provided with training and resources. Staff members are also present at all sessions to work alongside volunteers, offer support, and answer questions. Volunteers must be 18+.

Spooktacular Oktoberfest
Just in time for spooky season, Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation will be hosting a Spooktacular Oktoberfest for the community. Volunteers are needed to help orient visitors as well as assist at various stations, including crafting, hayrides, and handing out candy and snacks. Volunteers must be 16+. This event is mostly outdoors and will take place rain or shine. Please check the forecast and dress for the weather!

Prom Dress Sorters
Operation Prom is dedicated to helping low-income students attend their prom by providing free dresses and tuxedos in order to ensure that no student misses this milestone due to financial hardship. Volunteers are needed to assist with organizing and managing the inventory of donated prom dresses and tuxedos at Operation Prom's White Plains and Mount Vernon locations. Volunteers should have the ability to lift and move heavy boxes of clothing as needed.
