Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Spring Garden Clean-Up At Hammond

The Hammond Museum is getting ready to open for the season! Volunteers are needed to help clean the winter debris from the garden, complete some painting and organizing projects in the museum, and perform a range of other tasks. There is an activity for every ability, age, and skillset, and volunteers will work alongside a pleasant, collaborative group. Great for ages 14+ (or 8+ as part of an adult's team).
Date: 3/28-3/30 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; multiple opportunities

Help to put the "fun" back in the run by volunteering for Rivertown Runner's 2025 Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, registration, T-shirt distribution, refreshments, and clean-up.
Date: 3/29 from 6:30-11:30 a.m.; register by 3/27

DOROT's Passover Package Delivery brings older adults and volunteers together to share warmth and companionship. Volunteers are needed to deliver a thoughtful, seasonal care package and stay for a 30-45 minute social visit with an older neighbor. All new Package Delivery volunteers will be required to attend a Zoom orientation and provide a valid U.S. government-issued photo ID.

Prom Season is almost here! Volunteers are asked to raid their closets and donate dresses, suits, dress shirts, heels, clutches, shrugs, jewelry, and other prom essentials to help ensure that every teen can celebrate this milestone in style—without financial barriers. Items must be in clean, wearable condition and ready for immediate distribution. Adult sizes 10-22 are especially needed.

County Harvest is an all-volunteer food rescue organization dedicated to helping communities by connecting food donors to agencies serving people in need. Volunteers are needed to rescue excess or unsold food from supermarkets, farms, and bakeries and deliver it to nearby soup kitchens, food pantries, and homeless shelters. Most food rescue runs take about an hour and can be done using the volunteer's own car or one of County Harvest's vans.
