
With the tenth anniversary of 9/11 just days away, local kids are undoubtedly exposed to images of the terrorist attacks in online, print and television media.
Though many were too young to even know about how the Twin Towers fell ten years ago, they are old enough now to ask questions about the images they may be seeing, or their friends have seen and are now talking about.
This morning—without thinking—I mentioned to my son, who turns nine on Sept. 12, that I may not be home Sunday night because I would be attending an event for the September 11 anniversary. And he said "what's that?"

His sister entered the room and diverted attention from the subject. But it's bound to come up again and I'm thinking about a bare-bones explanation.
