Winter Storm: Up to 5 Inches of Snow by Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning prompting some local cancellations.

Katonah Lewisboro schools have announced the cancellation of all after school and evening activities, including the high school's College Night, in anticipation of wet weather.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning in effect from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, indicating snow, sleet and freezing rain are headed this way.

Forecasters are calling for 2 to 5 inches of snow, up to a quarter inch of ice and poor visibility.

Tonight, snow before midnight, then snow, freezing rain, and sleet between midnight and 3 a.m., then freezing rain and sleet after 3 a.m. Lows around 30. East wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Tuesday Rain or freezing rain, becoming all rain after noon. High near 41. East wind 5 to 13 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night A chance of rain showers before 9 p.m., then a slight chance of snow showers between 9 p.m. and midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
