2 Long Islanders Get $5,000 Scholarship From Dunkin'

Both students are planning to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

BELLMORE, NY — A pair of Long Islanders are scholarship winners from Dunkin.

Vivian Guo, from Bellmore, is Dunkin' crew member, and Sophia Augier, of St. James, each were awarded the $5,000 academic scholarship.

The program was established to ease the financial burden of college for students throughout the greater New York region.

Augier and Guo will be attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Guo was shocked by the award.

"It will allow me to focus my energy on pursuing my academic and extracurricular goals without the worry of affordability," Guo said. "This scholarship has impacted my life positively in so many ways and I strive to give back to my community one day as well."

The scholarship recipients were recently celebrated with a luxury suite at a Yankees game that included meeting four-time World Series champion Joe Girardi.
