Gennaro Jewelers, Long Island’s renowned jewelry store, manufacturer and leader in police and fire jewelry, will celebrate its 100-year anniversary in April. To commemorate this historic milestone, Gennaro Jewelers will host a special celebration event on Sunday, April 30th from 10 am to noon in front of the store located at 410 Bedford Ave. in Bellmore, NY. Friends, neighbors and customers are invited to join owners, employees and elected officials for a fun-filled celebration with giveaways, food, music and more. A special unveiling of a stone marker designating Gennaro Jewelers as a Historic New York State Business will also take place.

“This is a tremendous milestone for Gennaro Jewelers and the greater Long Island community. Gennaro Jewelers has survived and thrived because owners never wavered in their commitment to quality and providing exceptional customer service,” said Gennaro Jewelers President Gary Hudes.

Starting on April 30, Gennaro Jewelers will begin the “100 Days of Gennaro,” where activities will take place to mark the anniversary throughout 100 days. Customers will be treated to specials; law enforcement and first responders will be recognized and there will be a number of giveaways and contests.

On the final day of the celebration, a 100-point (1 ct) diamond ring created by Gennaro's jewelers for their anniversary will be given away to one of the 70,000 customers that have supported the store for 100 years.

In 1923, Erwin Von Der Heydt opened a jewelry and gift shop at 410 Bedford Avenue in Bellmore. Von Der Heydt was regarded as one of the finest jewelers on Long Island and is known for installing the famous clocks at Jones Beach State Park.

The store was purchased in 1962 by Louis Gennaro, where he continued the high-quality service and traditions of Von Der Heydt. In 1968, the store became Gennaro Jewelers and was regarded as the premier jewelry store on Long Island.

A few years later, an experienced jewelry designer and manufacturer, Gary Hudes, joined the company and became a partner shortly thereafter. This year, 2023, Hudes celebrates five decades in the Jewelry business. Under Hudes’ leadership, the company has transformed and expanded to meet the has changing tastes of customers. Today, Gennaro Jeweler’s sells all kinds of jewelry and watches, designs and manufactures jewelry, provides remounting and repairs and offers appraisal services While -You Wait and Watch.

“At Gennaro Jewelers, diamonds never leave a customer’s sight; all re-sizing, re-setting and refurbishing are completed in front of the customer. We value the personal connections we make with every customer and seek to create relationships that last a lifetime,” added Hudes.
