NORTH BELLMORE, NY — "It's a dream come true," North Bellmore's Eddie Kraus, 12, in describing the opportunity to call an inning of New York Mets baseball recently. Kraus won a kids' contest from SNY for the chance to don the headset.

"It's crazy. You're watching these guys almost every night. Then you look over there. There's Keith Hernandez. There's Gary Cohen and there's Ron Darling," Kraus, a guest on Tuesday's "Patch AM," said. "It's a whole different experience when you're actually in the booth with them."

As part of his contest win, Kraus and his family got to enjoy the game from a nearby suite. Cohen, the longtime Mets announcer told the burgeoning broadcaster to relax and "take it all in."

While Kraus is in middle school now, sportscasting remains his career goal.

"I started doing play-by-play around age 5," Kraus said. "That's when I knew when I really had my mind set. I wanted to do play-by-play."
