Star Student Athlete: Bellmore Basketball Player Shines Off The Court

BELLMORE, NY — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard. This submission comes from Maryann Costaro who nominated her two-sport daughter Gianna.

What sport does the star student athlete play? Softball and basketball

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized? Gianna has dedicated so much time playing local and travel sports and still maintained honor roll status. She will be playing D1 softball at college. She is a leader, she’s humble and she’s always cheering on all sports in her school.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete? She’s dedicated, she’s thankful, she’s determined and she works so hard at what she loves. Keep up the great work, Gianna 12th!
