Hundreds Attend Bellmore Chamber Easter Event

Due to the weather, attendees did not march through town as planned.

Even though it was a cold and rainy day, hundreds came out to the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores'  Annual Easter Parade on Saturday.

Due to the weather, children and their families did not march through town as planned, but the kids were able to get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny and receive a variety of Easter treats on Pettit Avenue.

Martha Verdi, membership representative for the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores, said she was very pleased with the turnout.

"I think it was very good for this kind of weather,"she said as she watched children hug the Easter Bunny.

County Legislator Dave Denenberg made an appearance and handed out bags of candy to the little ones.

"Community celebrations of holidays are always great," he said. "We look forward to spending holidays with family and friends and in this case, the Easter Bunny."

Town Clerk Mark Bonilla said that he was proud of the Bellmore community because it did not allow a little rain spoil its annual celebration.

"It's sad the weather did not cooperate today, but the beauty of it is that the Bellmore community came out," the Bellmore resident said. "The smile on these kids faces make it all worth it."
