Man Burglarized More Than A Dozen Nassau Businesses: Police

BELLMORE, NY — Nassau County police arrested a man Wednesday night who they say is responsible for more than a dozen burglaries across the county.

According to police, officers received a call for a suspicious person on the roof of a jewelry store on Bedford Avenue in Bellmore, but the man fled before officers arrived. But police say the officers located him and arrested him without incident at 11:10 p.m.

Police say an investigation found that the man — Sean Smith, 40, of Bedell Street, Queens — was responsible for more than a dozen burglaries throughout the county:

• Aug. 9: Flawless Beauty Salon, 1177 Broadway Road, Hewlett
• Aug. 9: Woodmere Lanes, 948 Broadway Road, Hewlett
• Aug. 9: Woodmere Farms, 1102 Broad Road, Woodmere
• Aug. 5: Cure Med Pharmacy, 2020 Lakeville Road, North New Hyde Park
• Aug. 3: Derrick’s Auto Repair, 268-08 Hillside Avenue, Floral Park Centre
• Aug. 3: Chef Wang restaurant, 1902 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park
• Aug. 2: Derrick’s Auto Repair, 268-08 Hillside Avenue, Floral Park Centre
• July 29: Maharani Supermarket, 1620 Hillside Avenue, North New Hyde Park
• July 24: Hewlett Jewelers, 1344 Broadway, Hewlett
• July 21: American Drive in Cleaners, 1345 Peninsula Boulevard, Hewlett
• July 10: Thomas Poomkudy DDS, 248-50 Jericho Turnpike, Bellerose Terrace
• July 9: RAI Design, 2150 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park
• July 9: Sansone Market, 2147 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park

Smith is charged with 13 counts of third-degree burglary and three counts of third-degree attempted burglary. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
