Students also participated in a moment of silence to honor veterans.
The school held a drive to collect donations, such as toiletries, holiday decorations, hats, sunglasses, adult coloring books, and more, for Long Island State Veterans Home. There was also a pasteboard in the lobby on display of veterans related to Martin Avenue students and staff.
Principal Dr. Michael Yannucci reminded students to take a few moments to reflect on Tuesday.
“Veterans Day honors those who served our country,” Dr. Yannucci said. “Many of us have veterans in our lives– parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles. Our veterans are protectors, relatives, friends, and neighbors. Let us carry their courage and dedication in our hearts.”
