Mepham Football Player Nominated For Award Showcasing Character
Dominick Novello is in the running for the Heart of a Giant award.
BELLMORE, NY — A Bellmore student/athlete has been nominated for showing outstanding teamwork and dedication.
Dominick Novello of Mepham High School is among the Week 2 nominees for the Heart of a Giant award, presented by the Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants.
The award is open to tri-state football players with the voting period for nominees open until Oct. 3. The final vote tally determines each group finalist.

Novello in being nominated said dedication is his best trait.
"In order to succeed on the football field, in the classroom or whatever you would like to succeed in, I feel that if you work hard, you can achieve anything you want to," Novello said in a statement.

His commitment extends to after the game, win or lose, Novello said, "I would turn on my computer and watch film on the team we were playing the next week."
Each finalist will receive $1,000 for their high school’s football program, with the grand prize winner’s school getting an additional $4,000.
The grand prize winner will be selected based on video submissions stating why they have the Heart of a Giant.
