New Sign Honors Kennedy Girls Volleyball 2008 Title

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray presents sign nearly five years after Lady Cougars captured program's one and only county title.

The Kennedy High School girls volleyball team’s one and only Nassau County title is being highlighted nearly five years after accomplishing the feat.

Hempstead Town Supervisor recently joined members of that 2008 championship Cougar squad to unveil a new sign, which will hang proudly on the school grounds in Bellmore. Kennedy captured the Nassau County Class A title that year against neighborhood rival Wantagh.

Players from the 2008 Kennedy girls volleyball team who joined Murray at the sign presentation included Elana King, Ashley Johnstone, Lexi Stone, Stephanie Bauman and Katie Sheehan. Kennedy girls volleyball head coach Allen Ma was also on hand along with Principal Lorraine Poppe and Assistant Principal Gerard Owenburg.
