Long Island Man Sentenced To Prison After Fatally Stabbing His Wife: DA

The couple's 8-year-old son was in his bedroom when the man killed his wife over an argument about divorce, the DA says.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — A North Bellmore man was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison on Thursday after he admitted to stabbing his wife to death in their home in October 2022 while their 8-year-old child was in his bedroom, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced.

Anthony Paruolo, 39, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Dec. 4.

"This defendant claimed a life and shattered a family when he stabbed his wife to death in the home they shared with their son," Donnelly said in a news release. "By pleading guilty, Anthony Paruolo accepted responsibility for his horrific and senseless crime, and today’s sentence ensures he is held fully accountable for the pain that he has caused. Our thoughts remain with Danielle Paruolo's family and their son as they continue to navigate this unimaginable tragedy."

Authorities said they found Paruolo dead in a pool of blood with an approximately 13-inch-long chef’s knife in her neck and stab wounds to her head, neck, and torso.

The couple’s son was found unharmed in another bedroom, prosecutors said.

Paruolo was arrested around 1:05 a.m. Oct. 7, 2022, at a relative’s home in Kings Park by the Suffolk County Police Department, officials said. He was transported to the NCPD Homicide Squad.
