Pedestrian, 76, Struck By Teenage Driver In DWI Crash: Police

A male pedestrian suffered serious injuries on Friday, Nassau County police say.

BELLMORE, NY — A 76-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a car on Friday in Bellmore, according to police.

Nassau County police said the man was struck while crossing the street by a 2010 Honda traveling northbound on Bellmore Avenue.

The pedestrian suffered a serious leg injury and was transported to a local hospital, police said. He was listed in stable condition, police said.

According to police, the Honda was driven by 19-year-old Luis Vargas of Hempstead after consuming alcohol.

He was charged with DWI and was released on an appearance ticket, police said.
