Pedestrian Killed In North Bellmore: Police

The driver remained at the scene, police say.

NORTH BELLMORE, NY — A 71-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed on Newbridge Road at 2:16 p.m. Monday, Nassau police said.

According to detectives, he was crossing the road, heading east, in the vicinity of Frisch Place. He was struck by a northbound 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee and suffered severe head trauma, police said. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced by a hospital physician, police said.

The 65-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The incident is still under investigation, police said.

The roadway was closed while the investigation was ongoing.
