Police: Car Slams into Building Near Drawbridge to Jones Beach

A car heading toward Jones Beach struck a building near a drawbridge on the Meadowbrook Parkway Monday afternoon, according to New York State Police.

At 1:27 p.m., a car was heading south on the parkway when it struck a generator building just north of the bridge, police said.

The driver was injured in the crash and had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital, cops said. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

Police said the southbound lanes near the bridge were closed for about 40 minutes as crews secured the scene.
