UPDATE: Suspicious Powder on Bedford Avenue Deemed Non-Hazardous
Bedford Avenue is closed from Wilson Avenue to Linden Street.
Update: June 25, 7:32 p.m.
According to Nassau County detectives, an envelope containing a white powder was mailed to Little Shoppe of Stitches located at 507 Bedford Ave. The store clerk opened the envelope and then notified police.
Nassau County Emergency Services Hazardous Material Unit responded to the scene and, upon further investigation, the substance was deemed to be non-hazardous, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Police are investigating suspicious powder that was found on Bedford Avenue and near Linden Street on Wednesday, authorities said.
Nassau County HazMat and ESU teams, which set up a command post, is on the scene.
Bedford Avenue is closed from Wilson Avenue to Linden Street, however police did not confirm where the powder was found.
Marlon Hernandez, an employee at Pasquale's Pizza on Bedford Avenue said that police are not allowing anyone to go into the restaurant.
"We are open, but we can't do anything," he said.
Police are allowing pedestrians to pass by and are still investigating the matter.
