Reinhard Students Hop for Muscular Dystrophy

The school hosted a Hop-a-Thon for the cause.

The Reinhard Early Childhood Center recently hosted a Hop-a-Thon for muscular dystrophy. The school raised more than $3,000 for the cause.

Students spent time before school and during recess hopping to raise money.

Each child was provided with information about the disease in their physical education classes and were supplied with packets describing the event and how their parents, relatives and friends could become sponsors.

According to the National Institutes of Health website, muscular dystrophy is a group of inherited disorders that involve muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue, which get worse over time. It is an inherited condition that can occur in childhood or adulthood.
