Residents Displaced From House Fire In Nassau: Police
Smoke was emanating from the home's rear basement door, the Bellmore Fire Department said.

BELLMORE, NY — Firefighters battled a house fire on Wednesday evening in Bellmore, police said.
Officers responded to a home on New Place engulfed in heavy smoke coming from the basement, police said.
The Red Cross supported the displaced residents, of whom News 12 reported there were at least four people needing assistance.

The Bellmore Fire Department and neighboring fire departments responded to extinguish the flames.
Fire crews acted quickly to keep the flames from spreading, the Bellmore Fire Department said on Facebook.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal and Arson Bomb Squad were also at the scene. No injuries were reported and no criminality is suspected, police said.
An investigation is ongoing.
