'Roberto Chang' Takes Over Former Bellcrest Kosher Deli Site
"It's stuff you can't get everywhere," owner Paul Cicchetti told Patch about the menu at "Roberto Chang.'"

BELLMORE, NY — Bellcrest Kosher Deli has been frozen in time since closing more than a decade ago in Bellmore. However, a new restaurant is ready to take over the space as a proof of concept for future franchisees.
"Roberto Chang" offers modern Latin and Asian street food.
It's the first restaurant for businessman Paul Cicchetti of Port Washington, although he tested "Roberto Chang" at Westbury's Samanea Mall during COVID.

"We don't have knives. We don't have forks. We don't have dishes," Cicchetti told Patch.
What they will have is easy-to-eat foods while on the move, such as egg rolls, empanadas, and wontons, in ways rarely seen before.

As for why he selected the long-dormant spot on Merrick Road, Cicchetti said the community is primed for his unique menu.
"There's a whole bunch of hair salons. There's all kinds of businesses there," he said.
Perhaps the most important business there is next-door neighbor Brokerage Comedy Club and owner James Dolce, leasing the space for "Roberto Chang."
Cicchetti hopes to get plenty of foot traffic throughout the day. They plan to have hours of operation from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., offering breakfast all day, lunch and dinner options. You'll also find a dessert menu and more than a dozen coffee bar choices.
"It's stuff you can't get everywhere," Cicchetti said, who is excited about the "Roberto Chang" product.
"This is going to be our pilot location to see how it works," he said.
Based on the Bellmore performance, Cicchetti is already anticipating the proliferation of "Roberto Chang." He expects a clearer picture of the restaurant's future within eight months.
Unlike most restaurant franchises, he said they have a low overhead.
"We don't use grease fryers. We don't even have a chef," he said. "All our food comes in prepared off-site."
The uniqueness of "Roberto Chang" goes beyond the food. It's billed as an experience.
"While you're waiting for your food, you're going to be engrossed in a music video," he said. "You're not going to pay so much attention to the time anymore."
If the health department signs off this week, Cicchetti will have "Roberto Chang" ready to open on Monday for a soft launch.
