BELLMORE, NY — The seasonal opening of the swimming pool at Newbridge Road Park is still delayed as crews repair the electrical problem that led to two workers being electrocuted June 14. The ice rink is also closed.

A 62-year-old man was working in the electrical service room at 2600 Newbridge Road when he was electrocuted, causing burns to his arm and stomach, Nassau police said. A second man, 39 suffered burns to an arm while trying to help. The 62-year-old was airlifted to a nearby hospital by the Nassau County Police Department’s Aviation Unit, police said. The 39-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital by a Bellmore Fire Department Ambulance.

The incident occurred during routine maintenance and preparation ahead of the pool season that was about to start, town spokesman Brian Devine told Patch.
