1 Dead, 1 Critically Injured After Suffolk Car Crash: Police
A car crash killed a man and critically injured another on Long Island late Saturday night, according to Suffolk County police.
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A vehicle hit and killed one man and critically injured another late Saturday night on Long Island, according to Suffolk County police.
Giovanni Guzman, 26, of Central Islip, was driving a 2008 Nissan northbound on Wilson Boulevard in Central Islip when the vehicle struck two pedestrians who were walking in the road, just south of St. Johns Street, around 11:59 p.m., police said.
Jacinto Santos, 55, and Mauro Zaldivar-Cruz, 38, both of Central Islip, were transported to South Shore University Hospital, police said.

Santos was pronounced dead at the hospital and Zaldivar-Cruz was admitted in critical condition, police said.
Guzman was not injured and the Nissan was impounded for a safety check, police said.
