3 Dogs Found Emaciated, Insects Embedded In Wounds : SPCA

A Central Islip man and woman were charged with animal cruelty, and left the dogs outdoors in a heat advisory, SPCA says.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A Central Islip man and woman were charged after they failed to provide food, water, and medical care for three dogs, and left them outdoors in a heat advisory, Suffolk County SPCA said.

Marthe Thelusma, 45, and Didier Castan, 45, were arrested on Thursday and charged with multiple misdemeanor charges including animal cruelty, the SPCA said.

Detectives found the three dogs to be emaciated with their ribs showing and had raw open, painful wounds both in and on their ears.

Two of the dogs had multiple insects embedded in their wounds, the SPCA said.

The three dogs were taken to a local animal hospital for treatment.

Thelusma and Castan are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip, on Sept. 27.
