Beat The Heat In Islip: Town Extends Spray Park, Swimming Pool Hours

ISLIP, NY — As Long Islanders are faced with the challenge of staying cool through another heat advisory through Wednesday night, the Town of Islip has extended the hours for pools, spray parks and beaches.

The National Weather Service warns that the heat advisory has been extended until Wednesday at 9 p.m. across Long Island, except for parts of southeastern Suffolk County, which will be a bit cooler.

According to Faye Morrone, meteorologist for the NWS office in Upton, temperatures will range from the mid-80s to 90s, with heat index values from the mid-90s to about 100 degrees

To help residents endure the extreme heat, Islip town pools and spray parks will be open until 7:15 p.m. and bay beaches will be open until 7 p.m., officials announced Tuesday.

While other beaches will be open till 7 p.m., Benjamin Beach at Bay Shore Marina will close at 6:45 p.m. for a concert.

The Town of Islip has one spray park to keep kids occupied and cool all summer.

Ship Wreck Cove Spray Park

POOLS

The Town of Islip has four pools open to Islip residents and non-residents.

Hidden Pond Pool

• Hours: Daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. through August 23. From August 24 to September 2, the pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Roberto Clemente Pool

According to the town, residents may purchase a seasonal pool plan or pay a daily entrance fee. Entrance fees at all pools and the spray park range from $60 to $225 for residents and $200 to $350 for non-residents. Daily pool passes are also available from $2 to $15 for residents and $30 for non-residents.

Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.
