Lockdown Lifted On Suffolk Community College Brentwood Campus

A report of a possible weapon was made on the campus, a social media post said.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A lockdown on Suffolk Community College was recently lifted.

The Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood announced a report of a possible weapon, and announced the news in a social media post at about 12 p.m. on Thursday.

"If you are on the Grant Campus—shelter in place. Others should not enter the campus until further communications are issued," the post said.

In an updated post, the school wrote that two plain-clothes law enforcement officers were on the Grant campus and were later identified as the individuals seen carrying weapons.

The Suffolk County Police Academy is also located at the campus.
