New Byron Lake Park Pool Opens For Summer Fun Saturday

OAKDALE, NY — The revamped Byron Lake Park pool in is opening this weekend, offering Islip residents a place cool off all summer long.

"The pool will open Saturday, June 29," Town of Islip communications officer Caroline Smith told Patch.

According to the town, the pool will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. through September 1. Starting September 2, the pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

After pool and lake renovations began in October of 2022, the old pools were demolished and new, "state of the art" pools were installed, according to Islip officials.

There's also a water slide and activity area for family fun.

In addition, the concession area was expanded to a stylish eatery called The Byron, septic system were upgraded, ADA accessibility was improved and the property received and overall "beautification."

The lake was also revamped, with upgrades including rebuilding of the bulkhead, reconstruction on the south end of the lake and the culverts for the walkways along the stream.

"This will be an attraction and asset for all Town of Islip residents to enjoy for many years to come," officials said on the town's website.
