The Town of Islip launched a new fundraiser for the Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-A-Pet Center to help animals find their forever homes.

ISLIP, NY — A new fundraiser helps animals who need homes and the environment by inspiring residents to recycle.

The Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-A-Pet Center has launched PET for Pets, a creative program collecting plastic deposit bottles to support animals in need.

According to the town, the organizations are asking for donations of single-serve deposit bottles made of PET, or PolyEthylene Terephthalate, which is sued to package around 70 percent of soda, juice, and water. The bottles are easy to recognize with their "1" logo and are made of the most recyclable plastic in the world.
